Intro to Aquaculture

  • Cedar Rock Gardens 299 Concord Street Gloucester, MA, 01930 United States (map)

Brenden Doyle of The Great Marsh Shellfish Company will give a high level introduction to the major types and methods of aquaculture in production today. The course will cover the basics of fin fish, shellfish and sea vegetable aquaculture. We will discuss the pros and cons of each type of aquaculture, the regulations required, and the differences between municipal and private aquaculture.

Brenden Doyle is the first and only person to get a shellfish aquaculture operation going on the North Shore. As owner of the Great Marsh Shellfish Company, Brenden looks forward to bringing high quality oysters and other shellfish to the local market. His background as an IT solutions architect and disaster recovery specialist has made Brenden an agile thinker who knows how to locate opportunities where many see only obstacles, and apply real cures to emerging problems.
